This is the Turquoise Naga rug, a handmade piece braided with thick strips of colored felt. The meandering way in which some pieces pass over and under one another generates a colorful mosaic. Created by the design team at GAN, the rug is called Naga in reference to the semi-divine beings from the Hindu mythology that are represented with snake bodies.
This version alternates felt pieces in two shades of gray, white and turquoise, all interlaced by hand in a way similar to the braiding of certain bracelets. It is available in two sizes as well as in indigo blue tones.
NAGA, A MODEL FROM GAN'S COLLECTION OF FELT RUGS
Felt is obtained by combing wool, applying steam and pressing it. It is a compact material that does not come from a weaving process and that, according to GAN's experience, offers inexhaustible design possibilities because it can be cut and dyed, sewn or embroidered, braided and molded. Therefore GAN considers felt an indispensable material in the field of contemporary design.
