Gandia Blasco Blue Bandas Space Single Rug C
The C Turquoise runner is one of ten elongated rug designs that make up the Bandas collection. Its design, which seems to arise randomly and spontaneously on a grid, is embroidered by hand and with crochet needles using turquoise blue and black wool. It also has a striking orange colored border.
Conceived by Patricia Urquiola, the Bandas collection is one of our more flexible lines, with a modular design open to personalization: a simple system of velcro strips allows the coupling of a series of thin and elongated rugs or bands (hence the name of the collection) to modules that function as seats and poufs, or to each other, forming larger rugs. Ten designs with dynamic and cheerful embroideries, with which you can create countless combinations.
Each of the ten runners is reinforced with a removable flat piece of metal in its corners so that they do not move or curl up when attached to other runners. Each one includes the velcro strips needed to connect it to other models.
Bandas is handcrafted using two types of textiles and techniques: a fine fabric, made on a manual loom, serves both to cover the modules and poufs and as a base for the runners themselves, on which the details are hand-embroidered by artisans from India.
BANDAS, A GAN SPACES COLLECTION
GAN spaces are collections meticulously constructed from innovative concepts and artisanal production methods. Suggestive approaches that, stemming from a rug, are capable of bringing to life a whole family of modules and accessories with which to design an environment or “space”. A set of designs linked together, designed to project stimulating and contemporary atmospheres with an open, flexible and casual configuration.
PATRICIA URQUIOLA, DESIGNER OF THE BANDAS COLLECTION
Patricia Urquiola is an architect and designer of Spanish origin who settled in Italy after graduating from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1989. After working with Italian masters of design such as Achille Castiglioni and Vico Magistretti, she founded her own studio in 2001. Since then, she has tackled very diverse projects, from furniture and lighting to ephemeral installations or the integral design of hotels. Her sensitivity to traditional handmade objects and international cooperation in the field of handmade productions led to the start of a fruitful collaboration in 2004 with GAN, which continues to this day.
